Château Desmirail

Our wines

Château Desmirail

Desmirail, a third growth in the 1855 classification, is the fruit of an exceptional terroir in the Margaux appellation, which it represents perfectly with its wonderful elegance and finesse.
Its vinification is carried out using modern techniques and equipment, combined with a respect for tradition, resulting in a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth, but which also has a tremendous capacity to improve with age.
Château Desmirail is the product of strict selection and carefully adapted maturing.

Initial de Desmirail

Produced in part from younger vines, Initial de Desmirail is the Château's Second Wine. It also undergoes a maturing period in barrels. This is a wine that should ideally be drunk within ten years in order to enjoy all of its qualities. “A pleasant, round wine, enjoyable to drink young", it takes its name from D and L, the current owner’s initials, which appear on the majestic entrance gate and on the pediment of the Charterhouse.

Iris Pourpre de Desmirail

Iris Pourpre de Desmirail is an Haut-Médoc made with the same care and in the same style as Desmirail's Second Wine. The choice of Iris Pourpre evokes both the name of a flower and a beautiful Friesian mare who is the property's mascot.

Rosé de Desmirail

Rosé de Desmirail is a rosé de saignée, and therefore more structured than traditional rosé de pressée. Unlike this other type of rosé, it comes from plots that will produce
DESMIRAIL or INITIAL de DESMIRAIL. A small proportion of juice from different vats is vinified separately. This operation is designed to reinforce the concentration of tannins in the first and second wines. Like these two red wines, it is a blend of our two main grape varieties (Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot).

La Perle de Desmirail

La Perle de Desmirail is a white wine with a very limited production of 3,000 bottles, made from 3 Médoc grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Cabernet-Franc, vinified and aged with great care by the Château DESMIRAIL team, in 500-liter oak barrels.
This brightly sparkling wine, the latest in the estate's range of wines, takes its name from the pearl it reflects.
